Employees match that giving with hands-on volunteering, from San Francisco to New York.
San Francisco, Calif. – July 31, 2026 – Since the Bailard Foundation was created in 2019, it has granted nearly $1.5 million, with more than 90% given to nonprofits in the nine counties around the Bay. The giving runs through three areas: affordable housing, financial literacy, and homelessness & poverty.
Grantees include Hope Solutions in Contra Costa County, whose model starts with housing and then adds counseling, employment support, and financial literacy once families have a permanent address. “Hope Solutions is deeply grateful for our partnership with the Bailard Foundation,” said Clare Demer, the organization’s Grants and Communications Manager. “Their support has enabled us to serve our most vulnerable neighbors and strengthen our mission of creating lasting housing stability and brighter futures for the people in our community.”
Bailard placed #66 on the San Francisco Business Times’ list of Top Bay Area Corporate Philanthropists this year, its sixth consecutive appearance. The firm first ranked at #89 in 2021, two years after the Foundation was formed.
The ranking itself is based on dollars donated, though volunteerism is also reported for the award. At Bailard, the two have always gone together.
Employees help fund the Foundation’s work and help direct it, serving on the Board that selects the organizations it supports. Their gifts to the matching program generated $15,994 this year, and they logged 423 volunteer hours across nine Foundation-sponsored events. In San Francisco, colleagues spent another day with GLIDE, serving 1,075 meals to families in need. The work isn’t confined to the Bay Area. In New York, all but one of our Manhattan-based team volunteered with Trinity Services’ Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry, which serves roughly 200,000 meals a year across the five boroughs.
“Six years on a list says something about consistency. What I notice more is how fast our volunteer days fill up,” said Sonya Mughal, CFA, Chief Executive Officer of Bailard. “Nobody is asked to sign up.”
